Introducing your candidate Dear Resident, Maria McCallum, a teacher and working mother of two school aged children. Maria teaches 'A' levels in a local sixth form college. Having lived in Portslade, Brighton and Hove for over 20 years, Maria is committed in representing the interests of ordinary hard working people, who are all too often ignored. Now is the time to ask local people for their opinions. Local people must have a say in local affairs. Now is the time for open communication and accountability. Maria feels that the opportunity has arisen for total transparency in council dealings.

UKIP would force councils to listen to us the voters, by letting people vote directly on important local issues such as the EU inspired Post Office Closures. We would slash council tax by 40% by waging a war on wasteful bureaucracy. This would include the eradication of pointless administrative targets and the abolition of Politically Correct non-jobs. Last but not least we would scrap the bureaucratic regional assemblies. Nationally UKIP is committed to independence from the European Union. By leaving the EU we will free-up £40 MILLION A DAY which can be spent on people's real needs such as pensions and hospitals. Locally for instance this would make it possible to protect all

medical facilities in the Brighton and Hove Local Hospitals.
